Summer has arrived...Hope you all have a wonderful one! I have really enjoyed connecting with you during our stay-at-home weeks. Hope you enjoyed the library lessons!
Spend some time reading during the summer. I definitely plan on spending some time relaxing in my hammock with a good book!!
Stay tuned for information from Mrs. Carrier in July, about a recommended Summer Reading list for students entering grades 5 and 6! For the past several years, we have chosen to use the wonderful list of books on the Massachusetts Children's Book Award List from Salem State University, for our summer reading list. Students participate in the statewide election process, reading the books and joining students from across Massachusetts in selecting their favorite. This award is very meaningful to the book's author. It is children's votes actually saying "We Loved It!" Voting takes place in March. They always offer some terrific titles! You will enjoy them, even if they aren't required reading!
If interested, this is the link for finding the list!

FYI...The public libraries in the CWMARS consortium share ebooks with library card holders. Lynn Blair, Director of the Southwick Public Library, would be happy to help you access some of them...Read her message below.
Southwick Public Library Online Resources:
E-books, movies, and more are available through your digital library! The Southwick Public Library has two offerings that can provide you with resources for entertainment and education during these hard times.
The C/W Mars collection has books, audiobooks, movies, and magazines available for download. Check it out online at digitalbooks.cwmars.org or download the Libby app onto your device. You can use your library card and PIN number to sign in. If you've forgotten your PIN or need it reset, you can email the library at [email protected]. No card? No problem! You can sign up for an instant card with just your phone number. Libby/Overdrive has a special collection just for kids! Remember, the virtual library works just like the regular library. If someone has an item out, you can put a hold on it to request it be delivered to you once it becomes available. You can also browse just by "available" items that you can get right away. Help videos are available at https://help.overdrive.com/en-us/9709.html.
The Southwick Library also subscribes to Hoopla! Download the Hoopla app or visit hoopladigital.com. Hoopla offers books, comics, movies, tv episodes, and music. The great part? There are no wait lists! If you see an item you want, it's yours! Create an account with your library card. If you don't have a card, as long as you live in Southwick, you can create a temporary card you can use to check out items. Hoopla help is available here: https://www.hoopladigital.com/help.
If you have any questions or need any help with our resources, please contact the library at [email protected].
